Show Details

Theme: This is a plant-themed exhibit to coincide with the May Museum’s botanical show. All hanging entries must fit one of two subject categories; plant or landscape. Urban, figurative, or animal elements are allowed but must be a secondary or tertiary focus.
Bin art submissions are not restricted to plant themes. 
Rules: Entries MUST adhere to current SWS Standing Rules and show requirements.
Online registration REQUIRED: April 1 - May 13
Deadline for online registration: May 13, 11:59 pm (midnight)
Entry Fee:   $10
Take-in Day: Tuesday, May 21, 11am - 1pm 

Painting Pick-up Date: June 23, 11am - 1pm

Requirements for Exhibiting

  • Must be a member with current paid dues 30 days prior to May 22, 2019.
  • All entries should have been completed within the last two years. Paintings shown in two prior SWS exhibits in the past 24 months are ineligible.
  • Art must be original, completed by the artist without supervision (i.e., not painted as a student in a workshop), at least 80% water media, and executed in watercolor technique.
  • Members may submit up to two hanging paintings and four bin art pieces. Only one maximum size entry per member.
  • Framed art maximum size: 30"x 38" frame opening or outside mat edge (full sheet with a 4" mat)
  • Hanging entries with frame openings over 22" x 28" (half sheet with 3” mat) must have acrylic glazing (i.e. Plexiglass) rather than glass. 
  • Framed art minimum size: ​11" x 14" frame opening or outside mat edge. 
  • Framed paintings: Entries must be matted and completely enclosed in a frame, dry, and wired for hanging. No saw tooth hangers, clip frames or uniframes.  Frames must be in good condition.  Glazing and mats must be clean. Archival materials must be used. No cardboard or masking tape allowed.  Dust covers are optional but encouraged for wood and synthetic frames. Back must be clean and neat with no manufacturer’s labels or easel attachments.  ​
